What is Sublimation?
Sublimation is a process whereby an inkjet printed image can be transferred to a specially coated substrate.

The results of this process provide stunning and vibrant colours on a whole host of interesting, useful decorative backgrounds.

The key to the process is the special sublimations inks that can be printed using a standard Epson printer, the inks will transfer to a polyester coated background when heat (200°C) and pressure are applied.

This heat and pressure is applied via a heat press which can be flat or cylindrical for processing objects such as mugs. The inks transfer and bond to the coating giving a smooth and durable finish. Other heat transfer methods only apply colour to the surface of the substrate resulting in a finish that can be easily scratched or damaged.

Recommended Equipment
· A computer with graphic software such as CorelDraw(TM) or Photoshop(TM) or 2D Design(TM)
· A recommended ink jet colour printer
· Sublimation inks + kit
· Heat press
· Transfer paper
· Substrates prepared for Sublimation printing

Software
For best results and included templates Trotec offers Sublisoft software, designed to make sublimation simple. This software allows the user to call up templates of Unisub products and compose the graphic and then output the correct colour profile to achieve the best result. Demonstration discs are available on request.
